To address poverty cases in the province, Governor Eduardo B. Gadiano initiated a systematic process of localizing poverty reduction efforts.
Through the Municipal and Barangay Affairs Program, the Provincial Government assists in the development of barangays, construction of projects, multi-purpose buildings, and other essential infrastructures for community development.
Implemented projects were construction of school facilities, Repair and Maintenance of Barangay Hall, Farm to Market roads, rechanneling of rivers, Construction of Multi-purpose hall and many others aiding betterment of various communities with thirty-seven (37) Barangays as beneficiaries.
Different projects, programs and activities were also conducted by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office despite this challenging time due to the surge of COVID- 19 pandemic to promote the child’s participation, protection, survival and development.
The PSWDO continued to provide educational assistance to the out of school youth (OSY), child labor victims, teenage mothers and those who stopped attending school due to pandemic and financial incapacity of their families. Education assistance was provided in the form of cash wherein each student will receive an amount of one thousand pesos (1,000.00) per month for ten (10) months. The assistance will be used to purchase food and transportation allowance, school uniform and school supplies. A total of 205 students provincewide received educational assistance for the months of January to June 2021 last December 9- 12, 2021 at Looc and Lubang, December 21, 2021 at Mamburao, Sta. Cruz and Paluan, December 22, 2021 at Sablayan, December 28, 2021 at Abra De Ilog and last January 7, 2022 in SAMARICA area.
Under the PSWDO’s Rehabilitation and Recovery Program for COVID- 19 Pandemic, a total of 8 groups and 13 individuals with 245 male and 187 female under youth sector received livelihood assistance amounting to 525,000.00 pesos. For women and solo parents’ sectors, 7 groups and 29 individuals with 18 male and 268 female across provincewide received financial assistance amounting to 502,800.00 pesos to start their projects. Also, an amount of 346,000.00 pesos were distributed to former, distressed and repatriated OFWs to 1 group and 32 individuals with 18 male and 14 female. 3 groups and 34 individuals’ Senior citizens with 87 male and 46 female amounting to 502,800.00 pesos received livelihood assistance and 1 group and 27 individuals of PWDs with 56 male and 25 female also received livelihood assistance amounting to 353,000.00 pesos.
Aside from the above-mentioned sectors, the office also distributed an amount of 1,999,000.00 pesos to other vulnerable sectors with 123 male and 71 female who affected by the pandemic. For them to sustain its projects, 4 trainings on the small business management and seminars on the poultry and livestock breeders were conducted and attended by 48 male and 52 female in coordination with the Provincial Veterinarian (PVET) Office.
