Anecita Diana C. Apigo-Tayag serves as the Vice Governor of Occidental Mindoro, a province in the Mimaropa region of the Philippines. She assumed office on June 30, 2022, following the local elections held on May 9, 2022.
In the 2022 elections, Apigo-Tayag ran under the Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS) party and secured the vice gubernatorial seat by defeating Eric Constantino of the Liberal Party.
As Vice Governor, Apigo-Tayag presides over the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board), facilitating legislative processes and ensuring the enactment of policies that promote the welfare and development of Occidental Mindoro.
THE VICE GOVERNOR: Powers and Duties
In accordance with Section 466, Article II of R.A. 7160, known as the New Local Government Code of 1991, the Vice Governor has the following Powers and Duties:
Be the presiding officer of the sangguniang panlalawigan.
Sign all warrants drawn on the provincial treasury for all expenditures appropriated for the operation of the sangguniang panlalawigan.
Subject to civil service law, rules and regulations, appoint all officials and employees of the sangguniang panlalawigan, except those whose manner of appointment is specially provided in the Code
Assume the office of the governor for the unexpired term of the latter in the event of permanent vacancy as provided for in Section 44, Book I of this Code.
Exercise the powers and perform the duties and functions of the governor in cases of temporary vacancy as provided for in Section 46, Book I of this Code.
Exercise such other powers and perform such other duties and functions as may be prescribed by law or ordinance.
